Aged 3 days old Rachael was introduced to parents Jo & Peter Claridge’s two horses before returning to the family home in Radstock in 1978. This set the tone for Rachael’s equestrian experiences, the family moved to the Ridgeway then to East Cornwall and later Bodmin Moor Rachael’s involvement with horses grew and became part of her lifestyle and personality. As a family with Rachael’s younger sister Amanda they would spend weekends exploring the Tamar Valley, fording the River to attend the local pubs or picnicking at the beautiful National Trust Cotehele House. Attending local shows and gymkhana’s before joining the East Cornwall Hunt & Pony Club and purchasing their first Lorry. The Claridge’s started to compete in Endurance continuing Jo’s ambition to compete at the iconic Golden Horse Shoe. The family purchased their first pure bred Crabbet Mare Blue Zephyr for Jo’s 40th Birthday and rescued their first Arab stallion Prince Merlin in the 1990’s. Rachael went on to back her horse of a lifetime Silver Mistrahl who partnered her at two European Young Rider and one World Championship Endurance Races in Europe and UAE. Rachael achieved a Team Bronze in South Africa and Qualified a Young Horse for Stefan Chazel in France before diversifying; Qualifying as a UKCC Level 3 Coach and International Commentator for the World Equestrian Games and World Endurance Championships. Rachael completed her BA Honours Sociology & Social Policy degree at the University of the West of England in 2000. Rachael took the opportunity to work for Mel & Bayard Fox at Bitterroot Ranch, Wyoming where she trained with Linda Tellington-Jones. Rachael has also been influenced by Monty Roberts, Kelly Marks, Dan Wilson, Adam Goodfellow and Mentors Jane James who achieved an Endurance Team Gold Medal and European Champion Jill Thomas. Rachael now resides on the Beaufort Estate, home to the international Badminton Horse Trials with her husband and young family where she can offer 1-2-1 or group training or AI services for her 100% Crabbet, Old England Arabian stallion Silver Zenif via West Kington Stud, B&W Equine, Genemovers AU, Equibreed NZ.
